In a report on bribes and delays at roadblocks in Cote d’Ivoire, the BBC cites a Trade Hub estimate that highlights the disparity between the cost
of moving goods within West Africa and within the US. Moving goods from Tema, Ghana to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso would cost $4,800 and take 13-22 days. A journey of the same length, between Chicago and Newark, would cost $650 and take five days. The estimate is from the Trade Hub’s Reduced Road Transport Costs Report on the Tema-Ouagadougou corridor. Read the BBC story here.
